![]() This is a extra Flightgear launch control helper program which lets the user select aircraft and locations and other scenario that would normally be in the launch command options, or, navigated to from the running Flightgear window. It also comes with Cessna 172 set, but with several aircraft available. The download that comes from the Ubuntu repository used by Linux Mint installs in /usr/share/games (not really appropriate, but I did not fight it), has a whole set of default airports, of which KSFO is the first seen. I thought it might be some thing to do with no scenery, and we know from the wiki that "Initial Starting Positions" is all-important, else all you see is water. My apologies for the absence - but comes from the need to earn a crust! ![]() Presumably you don't have any scenery installed. I finally checked out KDMA area which was looking great, though i came across an area that clearly had incorrect landclasses assigned to it (large grassland in the middle of the Arizona desert, satellite photos confirmed this shouldn't be present) - See. ![]() Upon further investigation this was a large cutout, located on a latitude border. When i spawned at KADW, i noticed a large chunk of. I then tested around KXTA, again really nice, no issues. the middle of practically nowhere, one of which is tricky to use due to having a windsock in the middle of it. I started around KINS, which in standard WS2 terrasync is just 2 runways in. Ive explored around areas that i typically fly, or would fly if it had scenery better reflecting real life. Im currently having a explore of the scenery contained within W120N30. (updated) Download site with interactive map: I'm not sure if Windows has an equivalent. In Linux or MacOS, you can create symlinks to use buildings, osm2city stuff, etc from TerraSync (see gen-symlinks.sh). I've also used a much-never version of apt.dat, so there are many airports here that are not in the default, and many others that are corrected and/or more up-to-date. I've used OSM for linear features, landmass, shorelines, and landcover, supplemented by MODIS-250 landcover to fill in the background when OSM landcover is unavailable, so it's much better detail than the default TerraSync terrain. This is traditional WS20-style scenery, which will work with both the next and stable (release/2020.3) branches of code. I haven't tested the scenery west of 100W or outside 40-50N as thoroughly as the rest, but I thought it would be good to get through a full pass and then go back and tweak afterwards I'll pick up the missing bits of CONUS (lower Florida and the Gulf Coast) and the Canadian Arctic afterwards. ![]() I am nearly finished building Canada/US scenery from the Atlantic to the Pacific, 30N to 60N.
